The Secret Service was established as a law
enforcement agency in 1865. While most people
associate the Secret Service with Presidential
protection, our original mandate was to investigate
the counterfeiting of U.S. currency--which we still
do.

NHTSA is responsible for reducing deaths, injuries
and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle
crashes. This is accomplished by setting and
enforcing safety performance standards for motor
vehicles and motor vehicle equipment, and through
grants to state and local governments to enable them
to conduct effective local highway safety programs.

Customs Service is the primary enforcement agency
protecting the Nation’s borders. It is the only
border agency with an extensive air, land, and
marine interdiction force and with an investigative

Drug Enforcement Administration |

The mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration
(DEA) is to enforce the controlled substances laws
and regulations of the United States and bring to
the criminal and civil justice system of the United
States, or any other competent jurisdiction, those
organizations and principal members of
organizations, involved in the growing, manufacture,
or distribution of controlled substances appearing
in or destined for illicit traffic in the United
States; and to recommend and support non-enforcement
programs aimed at reducing the availability of
illicit controlled substances on the domestic and
international markets.

on the 2 (15) of February 1914. After the October
revolution (1917) most of juridical institutions
were abolished in Ukraine but the Cabinet was kept
by the famous criminalist professor S.M.Potapov.

National Criminal Investigative Services |
